New Year @ Scott County Library

We are looking forward to 2018 and to serving our community with library resources!

Some things to look forward to:

  1. A 3D printer will be available for patron use! Stop by soon to receive information on how to use this new technology.
  2. The Children’s library is getting a makeover with the way you find your books! Picture Book City will allow children and parents to look for picture books by subject, not reading level. Does your child likes dinosaur books? Look for the Nature “neighborhood” under the dinosaur “block.” We are still in the reorganizing phase, but will be done soon! Our goal with this is to make it more kid and parent friendly. Also, we want children to enjoy reading, not necessarily worry about the reading level. We also found that good books weren’t getting checked out because they were in a certain level. We want our library to be a place that children enjoy coming to and fostering that love of reading is our ultimate goal. Our “city” will have several neighborhoods: Bedtime, Celebrations, Concepts, Fairy & Folk Tales, Favorites, Growing Up, Nature, Rhymes & Songs, Stories, and Transportation. Please note this is only for the picture books. We will still have the leveled readers, the blue and green chapter books, and fiction section.

As a library, we strive to meet the needs of our patrons. If you have book or other material suggestions please stop in and let us know!

Thank you for your past patronage and support. Have a happy new year!
